Cayce sits along the river, which means humidity does a number on exterior siding, decks, and fences. We bring a wash-and-treat process to every Cayce exterior, a soft-wash with a mildewcide before any paint or stain goes on, because painting over mildew is just buying yourself a re-paint two years later. For decks and fences, the river-side humidity calls for a penetrating stain (not a film-forming one) that lets the wood breathe. We brush every deck by hand, two coats, dry-time between.
