Modern kitchen cabinet refinish — Simpsonville

Customer in Simpsonville had a 2008-vintage espresso kitchen — solid wood doors, fine boxes, but a finish that had yellowed and chipped along every door edge from twelve years of family use. They wanted modern flat-black to match the island stone.

We do this exact process on every refinish. Doors out, hardware bagged and labeled. Degrease with a TSP substitute (kitchen cabinets are coated with cooking oil that kills paint adhesion if it's not removed). Sand to scuff for mechanical bond. Prime with BIN shellac for adhesion and tannin block. Two coats of Sherwin-Williams Emerald Urethane Enamel on top, sprayed in our shop.

Boxes stayed in place but got fully masked — floor-to-ceiling plastic, taped at every joint to keep overspray contained — and sprayed in two coats. We work in a way that lets the family still use the kitchen on most days; only the day we spray the boxes is the kitchen fully off-limits.

Six days door-to-door. New matte-black pulls finished the look. The customer's text three weeks later: "hard to believe these are the same cabinets." That's the goal.
